Sen. Albers Honored with Champion’s Award

On Thursday, Sen. John Albers (R — Roswell) was honored with the Champion’s Award by the Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia.

“It was a tremendous honor to be recognized by the Professional Firefighters of Georgia,” said Sen. Albers. “Together we will continue to pass important legislation to help First Responders and support those who protect us. As a firefighter myself, this honor was very special and humbling. Thank you to the PFFG for being heroes in our communities all over Georgia.”

“Georgia’s firefighters are committed to protecting the public from the ravages of fire and other emergencies, often at great personal risk,” said Jim Dawes, Battalion Chief for the City of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. “We rely on elected officials to give us the tools and resources to do this critical job, as well as treat us fairly when we suffer the consequences of performing this job. Sen. Albers support of our state’s firefighters has been faithful and unwavering. As a volunteer firefighter himself, he brings a level of insight and understanding into the unique requirements and dangers firefights face. Sen. Albers had been a godsend for Georgia’s firefighters and to the citizens who rely on those firefighters to answer the call.”

The Champion’s Award is presented annually to those who have a faithful service to Georgia’s Firefighters. The recipient is seen as a friend and supporter and fights for the best interest of firefighters around the state.
